John T. Fife retires and is pictured leaving school after his last day as principal of Barboursville High School

The photograph to the right of students loading onto school buses was dated 1936-1937 and would have been taken during the time John Fife was on the staff of Barboursville Junior High and High Schools.
Excerpt from page 23 of the 1967 Treasure Chest...
"When school doors close behind the graduating seniors this year, they will also close behind Mr. Fife. After forty-two years of service to his community, Mr. Fife will retire from the school system. But his influence for good and his fine example will long be remembered by all who know him. To quote Jane Taylor...'Reflect on the past and be able to say that time has been properly spent.' No man in our community is better able to say this than John T. Fife."
